Paddle Diva

Stand Up Paddling (SUP) seems to have really taken off lately from California to Canada -even in Dubai - and I have to say, I'm not sure what all the fuss is about? However, doing YOGA on a paddle board is sooooo much fun!!!
While SUP and SUP Yoga are amazing cross-training activities - low impact on all joints, improves balance and core strength - the best part of being on a SUP is that it really feels like you're walking on water. Then add some play with yoga postures while floating on the water and it is just the coolest experience. The deck of the board is a perfect non-slip yoga mat, just begging to be explored: Tadasana (has never felt so dynamic), Sun Salutations, Plank, Chaturanga, Warrior 1 & 2, Up Dog, Wheel, Shoulderstand, Headstand … and the upside down view as I literally floated in Headstand was magical.
SUP yoga takes the practice to an entirely new level: adding a whole new element of core strength, focus, single-pointed concentration, and fun. There's something very expansive about practicing outside, in nature, on the water and the metaphor of being on the water was the perfect setting for yoga: going with the flow and letting it all go. Feeling the heat of the sun warming my body, the scent of the sea breeze and my fingertips dipping into the water during Savasana was pure bliss.
