Why Yoga?

I've been meeting a lot of new people who have never tried yoga. HARK! Seems like everyone is practicing yoga these days, but the truth is, well, that it's not true. I discovered that the benefits of yoga are not known to everyone. The general conception of yoga is that you relax, get flexible or you just sweat. A lot. While that may indeed be true, there are numerous other benefits of yoga and here are a few:

Yoga involves techniques for stretching, strengthening and relaxing the body. Yoga encourages space in the body where there is constraint and strengthens the areas that are weak to awaken and realign the whole body into a healthy way of being. As the body moves into better alignment the breath begins to move freely within the body and relaxation naturally increases.
With a regular practice of yoga you can expect:
  • A deeper understanding of your body
  • Improved stability and mobility in your joints to improve blood circulation and range of motion
  • A greater sense of wellbeing and vitality
  • Improved posture, strength, flexibility, balance and coordination
  • Enhanced performance in sports, the arts, and the martial arts
  • Breath awareness - which illuminates awareness of how our emotions and mental states affect breathing and vice versa
  • Relief from back pain and other chronic pain
  • To find your natural weight by balancing your metabolism
  • Increased aerobic capacity without the stress of impact
  • Strengthened immune functioning
  • To learn about relaxation and how it can give you renewed energy
  • Stabilized sleeping patterns
  • A deeper sense of connection to yourself and others
  • Greater happiness!
